After rapping and producing as a fledgling artisit in Armidale, NSW, Dubs joined up with a couple of other up-and-comers to form the Hip-hop crew M.A.S.

After initial success in Armidale, Dubs went from strength to strength with M.A.S., supporting the likes of Butterfingers, The Herd and Hermitude.

After re-locating to Brisbane, M.A.S. further cemented their place as a talented crew by supporting Hyjack n Torcha, Muph n Plutonic, Pegz, The Coalition Crew and a special Sydney support for the Americaz Most Wanted Tour, featuring Savage, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Kurupt and RBX.

It was in Brisbane that M.A.S. met DJ Scholar and began to fully realise the impact a talented DJ had on their music. Dubs and Scholar hit it off and began to work together to create some tracks and quickly realised they had a great artistic relationship.

Throughout this time Dubs decided to spread his wings and fell into the artistry of Spoken Word and the Slam events held across Brisbane. He has since competed in the QLD poetry slam, appeared at Outsiders spoken word nights, and recently appeared at a Slam showcase at the Brisbane State
Library.

After five years with M.A.S., Dubs decided to leave the group and launch his own solo career while undertaking a Theatre degree at university. And even though leaving M.A.S. was a tough decision, he has been able to turn an experimental ear to his musical wanderings.

Together with DJ Scholar, Darkwing Dubs is a combination of spoken word, hip-hop, funk, reggae and general geekiness that keeps fresher than frozen mint leaves.
