Independent Australian songstress Rhiannon Hart has had what some might call an adventurous career. Shes fronted rock bands, an eight piece funk-jam act, spent time as a cool electro house chanteuse, travelled the world, and had a stint as random roving reporter-come-cabaret singer Shee-Ra Princess of Power on Triple Js Breakfast show in 2000. Now working on new solo material, Rhiannon shows she has grown into a sound of her own, while remaining true to her many musical moods and influences. Her debut EP The Simple Joys of Maidenhood, is set to be a collection which speaks as much from the street as it does from the heart, with Rhiannon bringing her own eclectic brand of irony, a sense of adventure, and creativity to well crafted pop-folk melodies. In 2002 she teamed up with popular Brisbane soul-funk-fusion-party band Gorgonzola. Touted as one of the hardest working bands in Australia, and clocking up literally hundreds of shows around the country over three years, Gorgonzola developed an almost cult following on the live circuit, packing out residencies, festivals (including the Woodford Folk Festival, and Rip Curl Snow Board Classic), with Rhiannon co-writing on the bands debut release. The debut, Veronica, (Independent/MGM) received national airplay on Radio JJJ and community stations, however the band parted ways before the release of a debut album. In 2006 Rhiannon was contracted by electronic act Fagan to record songs for their acclaimed independent release Shipping Secrets, and subsequent national tour, which gave her a chance to stretch her wings, heralding the mark of what was to become her signature sound. Her debut EP is set for release September 2008.
