Mikki Ross EPK

Mikki Ross doesn't want to be just another anybody.

He is the Rubik's Cube of live entertainment and is putting Showbiz back into the music scene. This Brisbane born vocalist, composer, electronic producer, pianist, comedian, dancer, inventor & backyard philosopher performs superbly crafted DIY pop inside his self-invented portable "Whizz-Bang Theatre". He is truly a post-millennium one man band.

Mikki has always had an abundance of creativity. While the other kids were playing footy (which, to Mikki, was merely a nickname for his foot), he was conceiving ideas for new water slide designs. His idea of financial success was being able to buy a roller coaster for his friends – one each.

Having studied both Drama and Music at University, he began writing, producing and taking baby steps towards his new style. Now, years later, he has fashioned this into a live experience. His shows are breathtakingly surprising, and comprise of truthful soul ballads, weird and wonderful kooky tunes, fun comedy snippets, silly pop choreography and grand theatrics. All inside a contraption with pulley systems and moving parts, the Whizz-Bang Theatre.

Mikki Ross invites you into his wondrously original and imaginiative world. Be the first.

EPK - Tim Loydell and The Deckchairs

From the moment they pick up their instruments, Tim Loydell & The Deckchairs make you feel alive.

Tim, the guitarist and front-man of this young band, has a commanding yet comfortable stage presence which makes his adoring audience feel like they’ve just been welcomed into his home. Observing him on stage, you wonder how someone of only 20 years can look so deep into his soul, and have the maturity to show it candidly to you.

Tim has been playing guitar for eight years, but his affinity with the instrument is so strong you would think he was born with it in his hands. His music alone creates imagery and moods that many struggle to find the words to express. Tim is a prolific songwriter, but there came a point where, as a solo artist, he needed to give wings to his songs, and see them take shape in a band setting.

In 2007, through simple fate, Tim met Joe, Josh and Alex whilst studying music at University. Joe, a young drummer from Maleny, comes from a rich musical heritage, and his very technical yet lyrical approach to playing drawing on many styles, contributes a driving rhythm to The Deckchairs’ unique sound. Josh, a slide guitar specialist, takes a progressive approach to his instrument; using effects pedals and loop stations to add colour to the traditional slide sound heard in Jeff Lang and John Butler’s music. Alex, the youngest and the wild child of the group, is a natural talent on the bass. Influenced by funk and fusion (with a dash of Bach), he has ability well beyond his years. It’s this beautiful melting pot of styles, influences and personalities, along with a healthy mutual respect, that makes this band spark with energy and life. They are tomorrow’s festival favourites, and are emerging as the new crop of Australian roots.

Tim Loydell & The Deckchairs, the music and an open road – welcome, and enjoy.

Tim Loydell & The Deckchairs’ debut EP “Some Strangers Ship” out soon through Keytone Productions.

Nathanael Marc and The Tech-hop Allstars

Nathanael Marc is redefining controversy. This outspoken writer-cum-rapper has a lot to say, and he's not afraid to say it.

Nathanael finds inspiration from the great writers and thinkers of our time, such as Mark Twain, Oscar Wilde and Kurt Vonnegut. He thinks deeply, and has a fascination with questioning and examining human behaviour. Understandably, he is disillusioned with the superficiality of mainstream hip-hop, and popular music in general. He's frustrated that rappers have a platform to reach the ears of millions, but often don't say anything of substance. Nathanael Marc is all about reaching the masses with truth on his lips.

Whilst at high school, this prolific writer taught himself music production software and began making music in his bedroom. He found musical inspiration from Frank Zappa and Tool; and philosophical inspiration from outspoken figures like Bill Hicks and Dr Timothy Leary.

Over time, he has developed an irreverent, shocking style; brazenly approaching polarising subject material including the war on terror and creation science. In his live shows, which he performs with his band The Tech-Hop All-Stars, he delivers sermon-like monologues which bluntly and powerfully state his point of view.

Love him or hate him, Nathanael Marc will question, challenge, anger or even enlighten you. Are you ready?
