Tim Loydell and The Deckchairs have emerged from obscurity with a captivating sound and impressive live show. Having played The Brisbane Festival, Woodford Folk Festival (Tim solo), The Wonderland Festival alongside Angus and Julia Stone and The Fumes, scoring a record deal and radio play; touring the east coast to venues like the ANU Uni Bar, Bar on The Hill Newcastle, Hotel Great Northern and The Zoo, it’s hard to imagine this gifted band fatefully met at university less than a year ago.

“These musicians are first class and it’s never more evident than on “My Oh My,” a driving number which wouldn’t sound out of place on the next John Butler Trio album” Lkatulka (Oz Music Scene).

Over 35 minutes of superbly crafted roots music, the EP is more a short album and offers many rewards for the listener. The epic “Rainsong” shows a remarkable musicality and the single “Morning Star” breathes a refreshing light into this popular genre. A real music lovers EP, it’s one that grows on you the more you listen to it. Judging by the reaction to their debut EP, this band has a bright future and may well come to be known as one of Australia’s next international crop and are certain festival favourites.
